Outreach, Media, & Public Engagement

Effective research communication to non-specialist audiences from different backgrounds is corner-stone to GREEN Electronics research.

From presentations at schools to fairs and exhibitions, we are always after opportunuties to communicate exciting and impactful research to the public!

Interactive Research

Our RF GREEN electronics research is highly experimental and often have immediate links with real-world applications.

We have demos that showcase in our technology in different use-cases. Get in touch if you would like to see a display our work in action!

Public Exhibits

We present our GREEN Microwave Electronics at major science festivals and venues, such as the Glasgow Science Festival, at the Glasgow Riverside Museeum (Transport and Technology Museum).

Hundreds of visitors experienced next-generation wireless power first-hand, including finding invisible microwave signals in a maze!

Across the University

Every year, our GREEN Electronics stall at the Glasgow Explorathon Weekend at UofGlasgow's Advanced Research Centre attracts hundreds of visitors from various backgrounds. Our visitors experienced first-hand how microwaves can deliver clean power, monitor soil and ice and remote envirnoments, and power implants.

The inter-disciplinary exhibition showcased research from various teams across different research groups, showing how microwave technologies can co-exist.

Battery-Free Smart UV Bandages: Watch on Children's BBC

Our recent collaborative research (with the University of Southampton and IFREMER, France), published in the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, has been featured in various TV and radio shows, most recently on CBBC's Operation Ouch.

Sharing our Experience

Our most recent activities are discussed in an IEEE Microwave Magazine article. Find out the why?, how?, and where? of our public engagement activities.

Open-source tools are currently in development, reach out for more info.

Dr. Mahmoud Wagih delivered many invited workshop appearances and panels related to effective research communication, working closely with Professor John Bandler OC FRSC of McMaster University and IEEE MTT-S.

Wagih's award-winning "Collecting Radio Rain" presentation, featured in the IEEE Microwave Magazine, is regularly featured in IEEE Microwave Theory & Technology Society webinars on engaging technical communcations.
